With a few examples of life stories in Burkina Faso, Benin and Guinea Bissau, in different cultural and natural contexts, the documentary “en quête d'équité?aims at increasing awareness of protected areas managers on the one hand, and the general public on the other hand of the issue of equity, in particular gender equity in the management of protected areas and more generally of natural resources.
These portraits of women living in different natural and cultural contexts show a first picture of how populations are involved, and particularly women in the management of natural resources. Their role appears fragile yet crucial. The promotion of equity gives the opportunity to turn our societies into fairer, more united and effective societies for the conservation of the environment. We must hear what women have to tell us, listen to what they propose and work together to make equity become real. This documentary has been realized thanks to the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the MAE/MEDD/IUCN framework agreement.
