Managing PAs and supporting small-scale initiatives
The French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) is the main funding donor of the APAO project and also of the PPI (small-scale initiatives programme) and the project of West African conservation territories.

Effectiveness of protected areas management

The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is the main donnor of AGAPACO project (for the improvement of west and central Africa protected).

Effectiveness of protected areas management

The international foundation for the Banc d'Arguin is also co-funder of the APAO project. In addition, this foundation implements a support programme to West Africa marine protected areas in the countries where the PRCM intervenes (from Mauritania to Sierra Leone).

PAPACO works closely with the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA).

World Heritage

The African World Heritage Fund supports the activities carried out by PAPACO on the natural properties of West and Central Africa World Heritage.

PAPACO works closely with the World Heritage Centre.

Climate change

The World Conservation Monitoring Centre and PAPACO jointly develop a multi-country programme on the measurement of protected areas vulnerability face to climate change.

Sustainable management of protected areas

The German Cooperation KfW finances the setting up of a foundation for Benin parks with the national centre for wildlife management (CENAGREF). PAPACO supervises the setting up of the foundation.

The World Bank (WB) finances capacity building improvement project on protected areas management in West Africa

The Senghor University in Alexandrie works on the implementation of PAPACO’s formations: Master on protected areas management and univiversity diploma on capacity building in protected aerea’s management

The USFWS (US Fish and Wildlife Service) finances some training courses for park managers.
