Short description of our publications

PAPACO's mission is to make available to the greatest number relevant information on protected areas in the region. Many types of publications are proposed:

• APAO newsletter is issued monthly exclusively on the Internet and forwarded to any person interested and member of our network (more than 1 500 people registered). APAO newsletter deals with current events on the protected areas of the region and regularly deals with basic themes to enable us improve our knowledge of protected areas. In order to receive this letter, please register on contacts . All previous APAO newsletter issues are also available at papaco.org.

• Our evaluations present the results of the works of monitoring and evaluation conducted in the region. You also have the results of the evaluations of protected areas systems (national networks of Mali, Guinea, Chad, Mauritania, etc.) or evaluations of sites networks (RAMSAR sites, World Heritage sites, etc.). You also find comprehensive evaluations of parks or reserves in the region. Hard copies of these publications are generally available too.

• Our studies show the results of the various works conducted on protected areas in the region. In general, these are themes related to conservation such as community based methods of management, the contribution of World Heritage label to conservation, etc. For each study, a discussion forum is open allowing adding comments and completing the works presented.

• A section has been dedicated to important publications issued by our partners. You can also find the most important documents on protected areas management, guides of good practice and other links to useful sites.

• Two buttons complete this set: maps where you will find the maps of the protected areas and some sites of the region, and picture where is presented a picture gallery showing the diversity of the sites in the region.
